9x18: The Parking Lot Experiment

Markings, 2019

Markings, investigates the lasting effects of repeated trauma on a physical plane. Over time, a once-unmarked space, when subjected to repeated trauma, will become absolutely covered in markings and damage as a result of the repetition. Viewers were invited to participate by moving the artist around the surface of the bedsheet to create tracings of the body in any position they desired.

9x18: The Parking Lot Art Experiment is an alternative/performative/experimental/live art fair taking over the parking lot at the corner of 12th and Jackson Streets in Over the Rhine on May 3rd, 2019 from 6-11pm. “9x18” describes the dimensions of a standard parking space, and that space constraint is the only rule to abide by for this fair. The typical tents, wire hangers, and plastic sleeves for goods sold will be absent from this fair. Instead, viewers will be inundated with performance, art actions, experimental engagements, and ephemeral works. Less about purchasing work... more about creating an immersive experience.
